Hiking around Naxos gives you the opportunity to walk among Mountains, valleys, plains, historical sights, picturesque villages, traditional paths. You can choose an area to explore below, in which sights you are more interested in, how much you would like to walk and the difficulty level of the path, and we arrange a hike just for you.
Mount Zeus
The highest summit among all the cycladic islands offers the greatest view of Naxos and all the islands around. The mountain where Zeus, the king of gods, was hidden, as an infant, and raised away from his father Cronos who wanted to kill him.
Hiking to the summit gives us the opportunity to visit Filoti and Danakos village, Danakos and Aria spring, Zeus cave, Fotodotis tower depending on the root we choose. The 360 panoramic view from the pick of the Aegean and the surrounding Islands is breathtaking. Unforgettable is also the experience of watching the sun rise from the top of Zeus mountain.
Chalkio Region / Byzantine Park
In the heart of the island among mountains, olive groves, oaks, plane trees, byzantine temples, lies Chalkio, the former capital of Naxos, with traditional villages around and an amazing network of traditional paths connecting them. Back to the Roots estate is also hidden in the area and we can stop there to check how our four-leg friends are doing! Let’s explore them together!
The network path gives us the flexibility of many routes to choose from, many of them circular. Choose how much toy would like to walk and we arrange the rest!
Potamia - Melanes
Two green valleys next to each other with small traditional villages connected with old paths. A very historic are with ancient marble quarries, 2 half finished kouros (big marble statues), 2 17th century resorts, 2 venetian towers, many byzantine churches, a castle destroyed by pirates and many springs and streams with some of the with water even in summer.
You can choose a valley to cross or the route that units them, both offering unique paths, scenery and sights.
